I was playing around on google maps, & saw a “ !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ” button. I decided to click on it. It shows my travel history all the way back to 19/12/2017. It’s freakishly accurate too. I’m not sure why I’m shocked google tracks me, but I am.

Because you are nothing more than data that can be sold

I have location tracking turned off, but apparently Google’s been using my search history to pinpoint me anyway. DO NOT WANT

Weird, I didn’t know it did that - memories of the past 2 years:

I wish I had never clicked this post. I even looked back on specific dates that were regrettable in the recent past... It’s all there... Snapshot is just from working today.

Duck duck go. It’s not as fancy and polished as google for searches, but it accomplishes what you need it to and they claim to store no data on you.

Made that the default search engine on one of my devices. It takes some getting used to, but I’ll probably start using it more regularly now.

Can someone please explain to me why the entire world is so freaked out by this and Google tracking them? I mean I get that it’s a company looking into your personal life but is that really such a big issue?
They have so much data that flows into them that there is no way they are using it to pinpoint you specifically. Hell, they don’t even use it to pinpoint a specific neighborhood. The data is being used as a set to create more useful tools in the future. Sure, they’re also selling it to marketers but if that lets me have proper tools that are useful then I don’t see an issue.

What’s funny about mine is that I can figure out which phone I had. “Oh, it went blank, that must have been when I had the Nokia.”

Mine started when I got my Xperia XZ1.

I usually have mine off, except when using maps for directions. It’s kinda cool looking at roadtrip history.
However, I noticed one random red dot in the middle of the country. I don’t recall being in Osage County, Oklahoma last July.....in the middle of nowhere.
